The Sacrament of Penance (also known as “Confession” or “Reconciliation”) is a sacrament of forgiveness, compassion and healing. The Sacrament of Penance restores our relationship with God, self and others.
Those who have been baptised in the Catholic Church, will normally receive the Sacrament of Penance for the first time before they are Confirmed and receive Communion for the first time.
Our Parishes Sacramental Team help children and their parents to prepare for this Sacrament.
Please contact the Parish Office for more information about preparing for the Sacrament of Penance in our parishes.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church (#1457) states that every Catholic “having attained the age of discretion .... is bound by an obligation faithfully to confess serious sins at least once a year.”
